Stepping over a line? Maybe so

A comment I posted to a Yahoo! News article on Monday morning:

All these facts about Trump's prevarications are clear as day right in front of us. Have been for a long time. Why do we continually allow ourselves to get dragged through news reports that just reinforce it all? Because the white collar legal system gets lost in mud. Today we see headlines again, so let's ask ourselves to imagine a world in which Trump simply were not a current candidate. He has been in our faces since mid-2016. Such a long time for this norm to persist. And what if we could just put the norm aside and live in a normal world again? Could we revert to that if we wanted to?

Now, a comment that I attempted to have posted to a Yahoo! News article this morning (Wednesday, Jan. 10, Year of Our Lord 2024). This comment of mine was rejected by Yahoo! News because it "violates community guidelines," according to the organization. My comment was in reaction to a Los Angeles Times editorial that Yahoo! News re-published. The editorial reflected my own thoughts. My comment cites a couple quotes from the op-ed. Let the world know that this is what I wrote:

"Dangerous behavior" by Trump? And "it's a safe bet the courts won't tune this out?" Well duh, how long have we been forced to follow this whole charade by Trump in the day-to-day media? (Expletive) years. Are we just impotent spectators? Amused? Or worse yet, actual supporters of Trump? Is Ginni Thomas still a fanatical supporter? What can we as responsible citizens do about all this? Why can't our courts see the obvious and just push Trump down, render him in a position that he cannot ruin our whole country? Maybe our courts will in the end do that. But why is it taking so (expletive) long? Today is just another day when Nicolle Wallace and Ari Melber will "do their thing." "Lots to get caught up on today," Nicolle will say. Really? Why does almost nothing reach resolution, so we can all go back to normal life with normal political discussion?

I sometimes listen to AM Radio and am amazed at the cacophony of Democrat-bashing that is heard there, is allowed there. Don't you find it all to be so predictable? Ranting about Joe Biden being senile, to cite just one thing. And on and on it just drones. Mark Levin is a perfect example.
The other night I heard a new guy - I had never heard of him before - and he seemed worse than ever like an absolute caricature of what I am talking about. Glorify Donald Trump. Attack the "libs." Commentators just fill the trough with this swill every day. We might pray that it is just a phase for America. A passing fancy? These things happen in popular entertainment and the media. A certain performer or mode of thought will have its "run." That's the operational term, a "run." I'd like to assume the current phenomenon will pass as such.
The danger is that we cannot assume.
Let's be careful about our terminology. Basic "conservatism" is something I respect, will always listen to as long as it is fact-based and respectful. Like yesterday on WDAY Radio which is the more conservative of the two Fargo stations. I can accept this on many days. On a good day I will cheer for it, like yesterday when a program targeted real largesse in spending for public programs. We're talking things like new public facilities - buildings and such - and school referenda.
Things of this matter call for restraint very often. We're depending on "conservatives" for such thinking.
It is always good to listen to wise conservatives. Here in Morris we had Ken Johnson and Warren Luebke cautioning us on voting for the new school. It was good and healthy to read their thoughts. In the end we voted "yes" and I guess that was a good thing to do. But we always learn something listening to wise conservatism to realize that public money does not grow on trees.
Nothing will get me to vote Republican faster than when Democrats act like they are siding with teachers unions. It takes a lot for me to vote Republican especially in the current times with Donald Trump still inexplicably at the top of it all, looming as a threat to all our well-being, a menacing figure just like Hitler, no exaggeration intended.
So why is the public allowed to stoop to any level in how it sets its sights on the so-called "libs?" Why? When a comment like mine gets rejected by Yahoo! News for "violating community guidelines."
If the U.S. actually survives the Trump chapter in our nation's development - not sure we can - what if I am proven to have been right? This after my comment of this morning was "rejected" by a mainstream news operation for "violating community guidelines." What if I am right?

Michelle Fischbach
Cannot get through
Our congressperson Michelle Fischbach did not even respond for a a second question I sent to her office through her official website. She didn't respond to my first either, but she added my email address to her mailing list, therefore I have since gotten communications from her that emphasize the proposed impeachment efforts toward Biden, as if that's a big priority out here now.
So I asked her in my second question to her office, how Biden's alleged missteps are any different from what we are clearly learning about Trump. The recent issues with Trump were highlighted in a Wall Street Journal article - that's a well-known right-of-center news institution. Oh, but the Trump supporters like Fischbach might assert that the Wall Street Journal is "institutional conservatism" like Karl Rove. Thus they're inclined to reject it.
Reject Karl Rove? What has this world come to?
My questions to Fischbach were phrased in a very gentle and fair fashion. The second time, there was a feature on her web page where I could click on "yes" if I wanted a response. So I did. I got no response. So she did not even want to respond to a Wall Street Journal article. I quoted just a sentence or two, so my communication was not too involved. It was very brief and concise. No response.
Maybe she does not dare give the impression to anyone that she would sympathize with any reasoning that would be gentle with our president, Joe Biden, or hard on the big conservative cult leader in America, Donald Trump. The cult absolutely rules in our rural Minnesota, in our rural "conservative" churches.
I am certain that Good Shepherd Church of Morris will vote 100 percent for Trump. Ditto with the Apostolic Christians who otherwise can be such wise people worthy of respect - so, the bun heads will vote for a man who shops around to have sex with his favorite porn stars. Sometimes it is hard to recognize the America of today. I try.
I try to give our America a second chance. I try to embrace some hope for the future. I belong to a church in Morris that continues to lose members because of the "liberal" image of the ELCA. So Christianity is coming more and more to be an extension of MAGA. Up until now, there has been no stopping it.
Congressperson Fischbach apparently feels I am not even worthy of having a conversation with. Yahoo news! is skeptical of people like me, while the Democrat-bashers of AM Radio go absolutely crazy with their language. Respectable "conservatives" may come out the losers in all of this.

Addendum: I had to check: Is "referenda" really the plural form of "referendum?" A voice in the back of my head questioned this. The voice is very wise, as a check readily reveals there's a "conundrum" over this. Popular usage continually pushes for "referenda" as the proper form. Based on that, it well might be considered standard in the future. Technically speaking it is not accepted now. Really it should be "referendums." My blog post uses "referenda." That is what my instinct suggested to me.
